Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests show the fluid was probably human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the residents for details.
A high-ranking political figure commented the incident made him without words and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack half a decade ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
